The infamous Bishop Paul Morton and The Greater St. Stephens Mass Choir penned and sang about the greatest offer extended to mankind. An offer, if accepted, would give individuals a new life of joy, hope, peace, and promise. They sang, “We offer Christ to you ,oh my brother. We offer Christ to you, oh my sister. He will give you brand new life, through life abundantly; oh come, come on to Christ.
Thank God for His offer of His Son Jesus. He offered Him over two thousand years ago and the offer still stands today. Fascinatingly, there has never been, and never will be, an offer to give everlasting life. Because of this offer, there is hope for all, and an outlook on the future that presents God’s promise to give Eternal Life through His Son, Jesus.
Based on my observation and experience, I have noted that there are individuals who want something from God but do not want God or what He offers. They bask in the bare essentials that are freely given such as clothes, food, etc., and accept them with a grateful heart. However, their hearts are so far away from the greatest essential that they could ever receive-Jesus Christ.
As a thought, recorded in the Bible, the man who was carried every day to sit at the temple gate asking alms never went in the Temple to worship and praise God. He was wisely placed where the people would see him and give as they passed through the gate to worship God. One day, Peter and John were going up to the Temple to pray. They saw the man who was begging for alms. “When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms. But Peter, along with John, fixed his gaze on him and said, “Look at us!” And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene walk!” (Acts 3:1-6 NASB). The man entered into the Temple with Peter and Paul leaping and praising God.
God wants to offer more to us than just the bare essentials of life. His desire is that each and every one of us accept His Son, Jesus and allow Him an opportunity to change our lives. The only Name that the begging man could be healed by was in the Name of Jesus. In like manner, if we are looking for spiritual healing, Jesus is the only One who can bring that type of healing. Interestingly, His offer still stands. So, if you are reading this message and you desire a changed life, we offer Christ to you. He will give you a brand-new life. Come on to Christ!
