Services for Rus’Sheika Johnson will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Greater Free Gift Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana.
Rus’Sheika Lavea Johnson, a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on May 26, 2024, at the age of 39.
Born on June 18, 1984, to Collette Jean Johnson and Russell Varner, Rus’Sheika was the middle child of three girls. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the youth choir at Pleasant Green Baptist Church. Rus’Sheika attended Robinson Elementary, Jefferson Junior High, and Rangeview High School, where she was a part of the marching band, playing the flute, and a member of the dance team, which ignited her passion for dance.
After receiving her diploma, Rus’Sheika attended Grambling State University. With dedication and hard work, she turned her love for dance into a successful career. Known for her loving nature, intelligence, and passion for helping others, Rus’Sheika never met a stranger and was a ray of sunshine to all who encountered her.
Preceded in death by her mother, Collette Jean Johnson; grandparents, Horace, Mary, James, and Arlenza; uncles, Bruce, Patrick, and Donnie; and aunt, Dianne, Rus’Sheika will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Russell Varner; sisters, Mary and Valentina Johnson; nieces, Caleyah, Autumn, and Kennidi; uncle, Theron Johnson (Latisha); aunt, Lora Varner-Wilkes; a host of cousins and friends; boyfriend, Shelbert Price; and her beloved furbaby, Dolla.
