Family and friends will gather Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church to lay to rest Damion Moore, a 14-year-old freshman at Carroll High School who was tragically killed in a shooting near the corner of Sherrouse Avenue and Church Street last week.
The loss has left his mother, Shalanda Jackson, devastated and searching for strength in her faith.
“He called me about 11:30 p.m. that night, just like always. Laughing, joking, and asking if I had cooked. I didn’t know that would be the last time I’d hear his voice,” she said.
He spent the night at a friend’s house playing video games, she said.
According to police, Damion was shot on May 22; he died two days later on May 24th.
