A strongly worded letter from Carroll High School’s Class of 1993 has reignited community tensions surrounding the recent dismissal of the school’s head football coach and staff. Addressed to Principal Dr. Cassandra Shelling and copied to the entire Monroe City School Board, the letter expresses frustration over what alumni call a pattern of instability and a lack of transparency in leadership decisions affecting the school’s athletic and academic future.
The letter, signed by nearly 20 members of the Class of ’93—including educators, professionals, and community leaders—urges school officials to reconsider the coaching termination unless “clear, compelling, and transparent reasons” are communicated to the broader community.
