Monroe’s 78-day streak without a homicide ended tragically on Monday, August 4, 2025, with the shooting death of 38-year-old Aaron Dunn.
Police were dispatched to 9 B Lock Drive following a domestic dispute call. Upon arrival, officers found Dunn, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest in what appears to have been a domestic dispute.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released additional details.
Despite this incident, local crime statistics show a steady decline in murder rates, with a 15% reduction in homicides reported in 2024 compared to the previous year.
