Funeral and memorial services for eleven area residents will be held this weekend across Northeast Louisiana and Mississippi beginning Thursday and continuing through Tuesday.
Barbara Jean Sheridan – Memorial service will be Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at McFarland Funeral Companies, 1223 Broadway Street, Delhi, LA. Sheridan, 89, died August 9, 2025. Born September 18, 1935, in Crowville to Edna Beckwith, she was the mother of Charles and Chad Martin, grandmother to Shaniece, Ja’Cola, Jacob, and numerous other grandchildren, and great-grandmother to five. She enjoyed fishing, reading, and singing hymns, cherishing John 3:16 as her life verse.

Joseph Clayton Emerson, 55 – Service will be Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Orange Hill Baptist Church, Alto, LA. Visitation is Friday, August 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Orange Hill Cemetery under Smith Funeral Home’s direction.
Nathaniel Carroll, 73– Service will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11:00 at the Christian Hope Baptist Church in Natchez, MS. Mr. Carroll died on August 6, 2025. He was a resident of Mesquite, Texas, and a native of Natchez, Ms. He was the husband of Columbia native, Debra Lissa Adams Carroll, and the brother-in-law of Joslyn Adams Wright, Rose Ann Smith, and Peggy Charmaine Adams Roquemore, all of Monroe. He will be laid to rest in Natchez at the St. Paul AME Cemetery under the direction of Golden Gate Funeral Home of Dallas, TX.
