Across the state, graduation caps are being tossed into the air. Families are cheering, and cameras are flashing. Graduation season is more than a ceremony. It is proof that perseverance still works. Last week, I wrote about the power of perseverance – the ability to keep moving forward even when life becomes difficult.
Behind every diploma is a story.
Some students fought through sleepless nights, disappointments, family challenges, and self – doubt. Some wanted to quit. Some almost gave up. But they kept showing up anyway. And now they are walking across a stage into a brand-new chapter of life.
That is what perseverance looks like.
Success is not always about being the smartest or the fastest. Many times, success belongs to the person who refuses to stop. The person who gets back up after failure. The person who keeps believing when things are not easy.
Graduates must remember that life after school will bring new challenges. There will be obstacles, delays, and difficult seasons. Not every door will open immediately. Not every dream will happen overnight. But tough times do not mean your future is over. They are often preparing you for something greater.
Louisiana is filled with gifted young people. The next generation of leaders, educators, ministers, business owners, nurses, and coaches is stepping into their future right now.
Graduates, never be afraid to pursue the purpose God placed within you. Apply for the opportunity. Start the business. Write the book. Chase the dream. You do not have to wait for perfect conditions to begin moving forward.
And always remember this: God created you to be a winner.
You were not created to spend your life trapped in fear, excuses, or low expectations. There is greatness inside of you, but greatness requires discipline, faith, and hard work. Continue believing in yourself even when others doubt you.
Where you start does not determine where you can finish. Some of the most successful people in the world came from difficult circumstances. Your story is still being written.
To the parents, teachers, grandparents, and supporters – thank you for pouring encouragement into these graduates. Your sacrifices mattered.
Graduation is not the finish line. It is the starting point for a greater journey.
Class of 2026, walk boldly into your future. Keep persevering. Keep believing. Keep growing.
The tassel is worth the trouble.
