On April 30th, I broke my foot and have been out of commission and not physically able to be out front and visible in the activism that I consistently do. I am often criticized by some who want me to simply go away. However, many appreciate the work I do to help others in our community. Thank you to all who have prayed and checked on me. My foot is not fully healed but I have made considerable progress and presently out of the walking boot. It is interesting that those of us who are classified as senior citizens are being told to step back by some of the younger generation and let them show us the way. They are still silent and not doing anything. There are some dedicated individuals who are still carrying the torch but are being backstabbed at every front.
Selling out seems to be the name of the game because a lot of this is happening in OUR COMMUNITY. We have a young man who is African American and is running for the US Senate in Louisiana and a couple of our top elected officials have refused to endorse him. Thanks to some past and present officials who have stepped up to endorse him. He won 86% of the votes in the Ouachita Parish Democratic primary.
It’s time to put boots on the ground and show others what we are made of. We need radical changes on the federal and state levels. Also, everything is not perfect on the local level. We are calling on politicians, organizations, faith based groups to get busy and let’s take care of business. There are plenty of boots to go around and the ground can hold them. When this occurs, we can Love where we Live and Live where we Love!
