Pressure is part of the process

By Rusty Potter

Have you ever felt like the pressure in your life was becoming too much? Maybe you’re dealing with financial challenges, family problems, or career problems, disappointments, or trying to figure out what comes next. When the pressure starts to build, it’s easy to believe that something must be wrong.

But what if the pressure isn’t there to destroy you? What if it’s helping to develop you?

Think about a diamond. A diamond doesn’t begin as the beautiful stone we see in the jewelry store. It begins deep within the earth and is transformed under tremendous pressure and heat. The process is not comfortable, but the result is something valuable.

There is a lesson coming.

Pressure doesn’t always mean you should quit. Sometimes pressure is an indication that you are being prepared for your next level.

We often want the blessing without the process. We want success without struggle, strength without resistance, and maturity without experience. But some things can only be developed when life puts us under pressure.

Pressure can reveal what is inside of us.

It can force us to grow.
It can prepare us for opportunities we are not ready for yet.

That doesn’t mean every difficult situation is something you should remain in. Sometimes you need to make a change, seek help, or walk away from something unhealthy. But don’t make the mistake of assuming that every uncomfortable season means it’s time to quit.

Before you throw in the towel, pause and ask yourself: “Is this pressure crushing me, or is it developing me?”

The answer may change the way you look at your problem.

Some of the greatest things in your life may be formed during times when you feel the most pressure. The struggle you are experiencing today could be developing the wisdom, discipline, confidence, and strength you need for your future.

You may not be falling apart. You may be coming together.

A diamond has to go through pressure before it has value.

Don’t quit the process. Your pressure may be preparing you for your purpose. You are stronger than you think.
