Arrest made in Ouachita Parish in an attempted murder investigation

Authorities have made an arrest in connection with an attempted murder in Ouachita Parish.

According to the sheriff’s office, Derrick J. White, of Monroe, is accused of a shooting that happened February 3, 2020, on Standifer Street.

Authorities said that at around 7:35 p.m. someone collapsed in a convenience store parking lot at the intersection of Standifer and Reddix Lane in the Monroe area.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

White was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
