Betty Hawkins-McDuffie received Living Legend Award in Texas

Betty McCoy Hawkins-McDuffie of Monroe, Louisiana received the Living Legends Award at the 25th Annual Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards in Houston, Texas on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

The Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards began in 1999 by founder, Pastor Larry Davies and his wife Sharon Davies. The Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards is the longest running independent award show in the country. Their goal was to provide a platform to educate independent gospel artists and recognize their excellence in the music industry.

Betty McCoy Hawkins McDuffie grew up in Monroe, Louisiana. She was the youngest of 10 children and raised in the church with strong family roots in Christ. This soulful, anointed Woman of God has been active in ministry most of her life, youth leader, youth director, praise and worship leader, and sung in many choirs throughout Northeast Louisiana often as a soloist.

Bety Hawkins is the lead singer and with her group, United, they released their first singles, “You Are” with its praise and worship sound and “All I Need” with its Contemporary, soulful gospel sound, in 2015.

In 2016, Betty Hawkins and United became a member of the PrayzeFactor Inspired Artists Movement and The International Music Association (TIMA ) where she became an International Recording Artist performing on the Islands of Nassau, Bahamas.

Betty Hawkins and United have won numerous gospel music awards including: Best Praise and Worship, Traditional Artists, Best CD for Group/Duo and many more. They have performed on many platforms, such as the Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards, Prayze Factor Inspired Artists, Indie Artists Now with Radio Personality and Promoter Lady Wanda Bell, and many more.

In 2019, Min. Hawkins released another Gospel single, “I Believe” which was written and produced by Joey Oscar of JOMOCO Music. In 2021, Min. Betty Hawkins released a new Christmas tribute single, “Another Christmas Without You.”

Presently, Betty Hawkins-McDuffie and United is working on their new project and sponsoring events!!
