Bill to end slavery in Louisiana passes in House

Rep. Adrian Fisher, is one of 18 legislators who are co-sponsors of a bill to outlaw slavery in Louisiana? The bill was unanimously passed in the House and is now on the Senate calendar.

The bill’s primary sponsor Rep. Edmond Jordan of Baton Rouge, is trying again to wipe slavery out of the Louisiana constitution. He tried unsuccessfully to oust slavery from the Louisiana constitution, but it failed.

This year Fisher sought to revive the “end slavery Bill” but joined Jordan when he decided to try again.
