Board allows Brent Vidrine to retire with full benefits despite investigation

In a move sparking controversy and public outcry, the Monroe City School Board, during a special meeting on October 30th, has allowed Dr. Brent Vidrine, under investigation for alleged financial misconduct and forged documents, to retire with full benefits.

The board’s decision has led critics to label this a “backroom sweetheart deal.”

The said misconduct revolves around accusations that Dr. Vidrine redirected over $300,000 in retirement checks for personal collection instead of forwarding them to the State Retirement System.  Additionally, he is suspected of presenting purportedly forged receipts related to these payments.

While the authenticity of these claims remains undetermined, Dr. Vidrine has been placed on paid leave, with explicit instructions prohibiting him from communicating with any system employees or entering school district properties.
