Brown lawyer says firing was political, included involvement of Echols as shadow mayor

 Former interim Police Chief Reggie Brown is still fighting his termination as a police officer. This week, his attorney requested subpoenas for a horde of witnesses designed to show that his firing was a political hatchet job devised by political enemies.

Carol Powell-Lexing, made the request last week and listed 34 people whose testimony will combine to show that Brown’s firing had little to do with his handling of the complaint of a homeless man, but was the plan of at least one member of the Civil Service Board and another man she describes as a shadow mayor who works in the background to destroy people perceived to be enemies of incumbent Mayor Oliver Ellis.
