Carroll Band Director suspended, charged

The Award-winning band director of the Carroll High School Marching band has been suspended indefinitely and informally arrested on charges of simple assault against a student.

Friday, Monroe Police issued a summons to DeSaree Player to appear in city court next month to answer charges filed by the parent of a band student that Player paddled her child without parental authorization.

The incident which reportedly happened in October of this year, was a breach of the district’s corporal punishment policy.
