Carroll Coach found guilty on battery charges, appeal expected

Winnsboro, LA After a day-long trial in the 5th District Court, Carroll High School wide receiver coach Drouzon Quillen, was found guilty of battery against a police officer but was acquitted of charges related to inciting and participating in a riot.

The trial, presided over by District Judge Clay Hamilton, revolved around a confrontation that occurred during a high school football game between Carroll High School and Franklin Parish High School in October 2022.

The incident in question took place in the stands during the game and was sparked by an altercation between Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb and Coach Quillen. Witnesses testified that the altercation was initiated by Sheriff Cobb, who allegedly pushed and cursed Carroll box coaches, leading to tensions in the stands.

Two other Carroll coaches had previously pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of inciting to riot and simple battery, with the Carroll Head Coach, Brandon Landers, being prohibited…
