Carroll’s Superdome performance continues 60 year tradition

The Carroll High School Marching Sound Machine brought their signature style and energy to the Superdome on Sunday, performing by special invitation from the New Orleans Saints.

The band’s appearance at the NFL game marks another milestone in its storied history of high-profile performances.

The New Orleans Saints organization rolled out the red carpet for the young musicians, chartering buses to transport the band and its supporting teams to New Orleans. Upon arrival, the group was treated to premium ground-level seating, providing an up-close view of the NFL action when they weren’t on the field themselves.

Under the direction of Mrs. Desiree Player, the Marching Sound Machine continues to garner acclaim and build upon its rich legacy. Since its inception in the 1960s, the band has been a staple at numerous events, including multiple NFL games, Grambling State University activities, and Mardi Gras parades.

The band’s impact extends beyond national stages, playing a vital role in local and regional events. They are regular participants in Monroe’s Black Heritage Parade and Juneteenth Parade. Last year, the Sound Machine’s reputation for excellence led to them being called upon to represent Franklin Parish in state competitions.

Carroll High School Principal Patrick Taylor expressed pride in the band’s latest achievement. He commended Mrs. Player and the entire Marching Sound Machine.
