Chief denies three murders in five days report, says crime is down!

Monroe is safer, police morale is high, there are fewer murders, and crime is on the decline! That’s the official position of Mayor Oliver Ellis and Police Chief Victor Zordan.

In a press conference Wednesday, Chief Zordan said murders are decreasing in Monroe. He said since 2020, “We’ve gone from 22 murders, to 20 murders to 16 murders. We’ve only had six murders this year.”

When asked by Free Press why residents should feel safe in light of a recent three murder spree in five days, Chief Zordan denied that report.

“I don’t know where you are getting your information, but we did not have three murders in five days,” Chief Zordan said.
