City halts all payments of SEDD invoices after audit finding

The City of Monroe won’t be paying any invoices from the Southside Economic Development District until it has approved projects associated with its invoices.

Last week City Attorney Angie Sturdivant informed the SEDD Board of Commissioners that as a result of a finding in the city audit, the City will no longer honor payment requestions from SEDD that utilize hotel/motel tax revenues unless the expenses are associated with an approved project.
