City reverses, adds Booker T. erosion project for state funding

The City of Monroe has submitted a pre-application to the state for $2 million to address an erosion problem at the end of White, Pippin and Barlow Streets in the Booker T. Washington Community.

The city made its revisions only after community protests, led by Senator Katrina Jackson and Rep. Adrian Fisher, complaining that the Monroe area submitted 13 projects for state funding, without including the Booker T. Project. Jackson has threatened not to sign off on the city’s state capital outlay request unless the Booker project is included.
