Community activist Perry Thomas, dead at 72

Funeral services for life-long community activist Perry Thomas will be held next week at the Monroe Civic Center.
Services for Thomas will be at the Jack Howard Theater on Saturday, September 25th at 11 a.m.
Thomas was a community activist who promoted government changes that would help the poor and minorities.
He served as the Equal Employment Opportunity Director for the City of Monroe under four Mayors: Powell, Pierce, Rambin, and Mayo.
