Council introduces 75 percent increase in water rates over two years

  The Monroe City Council introduced an ordinance that will  increase base water rates in the City of Monroe by 75 percent over two years.

    When first introduced by council president Gretchen Ezernak no one would second the motion on such a large unexplained increase in sewer and water fee. After a tongue lashing by the mayor, made the same motion a second time and it was seconded by Juanita Woods.
