The next mayor of Monroe would earn $130,000 a year if a proposed salary change for Monroe’s mayor is approved at next month’s meeting of the Monroe City Council.
Tuesday night, the council introduced two ordinances that will raise the next mayor’s salary to $130,000 and the next members of the city council’s salary to $1,500 a month.
The mayor presently earns $90,000 yearly, and council members earn $1,000 monthly.
