The majority of the Monroe City Council is urging voters to reject a December 7th ballot measure to extend a 1-cent sales tax, warning it will create a $500 million “slush fund” without proper safeguards against waste and fraud. They want to kill the tax now, put in safeguards, and put it back on the ballot in March next year.
Early voting for the tax begins Friday, November 22 and ends November 29th. Election Day is December 7th.
