Crime unit investigates man’s death, shot by cop

An officer-involved shooting that occurred November 7 at 5:34 PM in Monroe, Louisiana, is currently under investigation by the Northeast Louisiana Sheriff’s Investigative Unit (NLSIU).

The incident, resulting in the death of a local resident during a wellness check, has sparked a complex and ongoing inquiry.

The NLSIU, a unit dedicated to investigating use-of-force incidents resulting in death or serious injury, as well as in-custody deaths, was requested to lead the investigation. According to Lieutenant Matthew Henderson of the NLSIU, detectives are actively gathering evidence, conducting interviews with witnesses, and reviewing the circumstances of the shooting.
