Man drags victim into bedroom
On Friday, November 3, 2017, according to the official report, two Ouachita Parish Sheriff deputies were dispatched to a residence in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, a deputy made contact with a witness who advised he observed the arrestee grab the victim by the arm and pull her into the back bedroom of the residence, against her will. He advised he continued to overhear the arrestee and the victim in a loud verbal disturbance, and he then contacted OPSO for assistance. The deputy then made contact with the victim and the arrestee, who were both separated for questioning. The deputy spoke with the victim who advised she was in the living room of the residence along with her brother and the arrestee. She advised the arrestee engaged in a verbal altercation with her, at which time he grabbed her by the right arm and pulled her into the back bedroom of the residence, by force. She advised they continued to engage in a verbal altercation until deputies arrived. There were two small children in the back bedroom of the residence during the altercation. The deputy then made contact with the arrestee and asked him for his name. He advised he did not have to give his name to deputies, because he was at his residence. The arrestee was then advised of his rights per Miranda which he stated he understood. The arrestee continued to refuse giving deputies his name. He was then questioned about the domestic disturbance and he advised he did not grab the victim, but confirmed they had been engaged in a verbal altercation. He was then placed under arrest and transported to OCC for the charge.
Vehicle accident leads to drugs
On Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 1522 hours, according to the official report, a West Monroe Police officer was dispatched to a vehicle accident on Interstate 20 at mile marker 116. The vehicles were moved out of the roadway and the officer contacted Monique Canada. Canada was in the passenger seat of a 2017 Toyota Corolla. Upon contact with Canada, the officer could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Another officer also detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer located a small plastic bag of suspected marijuana in the floor board area in front of Canada. The officer also located a digital scale in the glove box in front of Canada. The officer advised Canada of her Miranda Rights. The officer searched Canada and located a plastic bag with approximately 8g of marijuana in Canada’s pants. Canada stated there were more drugs in her pants but did not know where. The officer searched Canada at the West Monroe City Jail where two small plastic bags were located in Canada’s pants. Canada stated one bag was ecstasy and the other bag was cocaine. Canada stated the car is used to sell drugs and she does buy marijuana from the car. Canada was later transported to OCC where she was booked for two counts of possession of schedule I drugs (marijuana and ecstasy) with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule II drug (cocaine), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Parents fight over cell phone
On Thursday, November 4, 2017 at 0957 hrs, according to the official report, a Monroe Police officer was dispatched to a residence in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival the officer learned from a juvenile on the scene that De’Antonio D. Allen and Patrice N. Moore were in a physical altercation. The juvenile advised both his parents were at another residence. The officer made contact with Moore, who was standing on the roadway in front of the residence, who had scratches to her right cheek, left forearm, and a busted lip. Moore stated she had a verbal altercation at 0500 hrs. with Allen who she’s lived with for the past ten years. Moore stated she and Allen were wrestling over his phone which caused her injuries. Moore stated she tried to call the police, but Allen unplugged the house phone preventing her from calling the police.Moore stated that she tried to leave the residence, but Allen stood in the way preventing her from exiting the residence. Moore stated, as Allen tried to leave the residence she threw his cell phone and hit him in the top of the head with a back pack. The officer spoke with Allen who stated, he and Moore were arguing over his cell phone. Allen stated, while attempting to leave the residence. Allen stated Moore also broke his cell phone against a fence in the yard of their residence while following Allen to his mother’s residence. The officer observed Allen to have a bite mark on the back of his left arm which broke the skin. The officer observed Allen’s and Moore’s 10 and 11 year old children to be present during the domestic dispute. The officer arrested, handcuffed and transported Allen and Moore to OCC to be booked on the charges.
Illegal possession of stolen firearms
On Tuesday, October 31, 2017, according to the official report, a Ouachita Parish Sheriff deputy observed a vehicle traveling west on Desiard St. with a broken driver side tail light. As the vehicle turned south onto Gilbert St. the deputy observed it cross the center line into the opposing lane of travel. The deputy activated emergency lights in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, at which time it failed to stop. The vehicle then traveled approximately .25 miles before coming to a complete stop on Gilbert St. at Church St. The deputy made contact with the driver, front seat passenger, and back seat passenger, arrestee. The arrestee was removed from the vehicle and asked if he had any illegal items on his person, to which he stated “no”. During the course of the investigation, the driver and front seat passenger were found to be in possession of illegal narcotics. During the search of the vehicle, deputies located two plastic bags containing approximately 19g total of suspected crack cocaine, one plastic bag containing 13 suspected Alprazolam tablets, and one handgun in the immediate wingspan of the arrestee. It was later found the handgun located inside the vehicle was stolen out of MPD. Benefit of Miranda, the arrestee refused to make any statements regarding what was found in the backseat of the vehicle. The arrestee was placed under arrest, transported to OCC, and booked on the charges.
Victim catches burglar on video
On Sunday, November 5, 2017, according to the official report a victim from a previous residential burglary complaint, where suspect gained entry through a window, using a claw style hammer located and identified the suspect, Darin Brooks. Soon thereafter, the victim contacted OPSO in reference to her findings. The victim stated that the arrestee exited his bedroom window upon her arrival, to which they were able to subdue him until OPSO arrived. Upon the deputy’s arrival, the deputy compared video footage of the suspect from the victim’s residence to the suspect on scene and determined he was in fact the burglary suspect. The home owner granted OPSO permission to look in the suspect’s, who doesn’t pay rent, bedroom for the victim’s stolen TV, at which time deputies observed clothes matching the clothing worn by the burglary suspect along with the burglary tool(claw hammer) in plain view. The deputies questioned the arrestee, post Miranda, to which the arrestee replied, “I’ll tell y’all where the TV is if y’all let me go.” Brooks, the arrestee, was secured in handcuffs and transported to OCC where he was booked on the charges.
Man violates protective order
On Sunday, November 5, 2017, according to the official report a Monroe Police officer was dispatched to 3617 Carver St. in reference to a violation of a protective order. After speaking with the caller, officers then made contact with the suspect; Kevin Butler at 700 Wood St. Butler was Mirandized prior to questioning. Butler advised that around 0900 hrs he was walking west bound on Carver St. when he observed his ex girlfriend sitting outside with her new boyfriend. Butler went on to state, several seconds later both the ex girlfriend and her new boyfriend went inside of the residence. Butler stated, he then walked into the driveway of 3617 Carver St. and broke out the passenger side window to the ex girlfriend’s vehicle so the alarm would go off and get her attention. Butler advised, several seconds later, she exited the residence screaming, “Why did you break my window?”Butler stated, they then had a verbal altercation while standing in front of the vehicle. Butler advised, several minutes passed before the ex girlfriend ran back inside of the residence due to him pretending his cell phone was a gun pointing at her. Butler was then handcuffed, double locked then transported to OCC where he was booked.
Man impersonates an officer
On Thursday, November 2, 2017, according to the official report a Monroe Police officer observed a tan Lincoln Town Car make an improper turn while turning west bound onto the 800 block of Winnsboro Rd. The officer initiated a stop of the vehicle and came into contact with the driver, Quintail Credit. After advising Credit why he was stopped, he became irate and said that the officer couldn’t do that because he worked for the police department. He then said that he was currently employed by the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office and worked in the jail. When asked if he had identification, he advised that he had his “police badge” in his car and then retrieved an ID with his picture on it that appeared to be issued by MPSO and said he was a commissioned deputy. The badge’s issue date was July 1, 2016. He was then released with a warning. On November 3, 2017, it was confirmed with MPSO that Credit’s employment with MPSO was terminated in February of 2017. On November 3, 2017 at 1442 hrs, the officer came into contact with Credit who had been stopped by another officer in the 300 block of Winnsboro Rd. for modified exhaust. Credit was advised of his rights per Miranda, which he stated he understood. He was arrested, handcuffed and placed in the back of the officer’s patrol unit. The MPSO issued a card that Credit produced on November 2, 2017 that was found in his vehicle during an inventory check. It was seized and logged into evidence at MPD. He was then transported to OCC for booking.
