Monroe police are investigating two shooting incidents that occurred last weekend, leaving eight people injured. Authorities suspect the shootings were retaliatory in nature.
The first incident took place in the Trichell area, where six individuals were wounded by gunshots. Later the same evening, another shooting erupted on Beale Street in the Booker T. New Homes neighborhood, resulting in two more injuries.
All eight victims received medical treatment and have since been released from local hospitals.
In a troubling development, police confirmed that both shooting sprees involved minors, raising concerns about youth involvement in violent crimes.
The police are urging anyone with information about either shooting to come forward.
