Ellis campaign to host Friday party

By Robert Wright

This Friday night at The Hub downtown, Monroe mayoral candidate Friday Ellis is hosting a campaign fundraiser that hopes to tap into Monroe’s young crowd. Ellis is in the race against three other opponents for the April 4 election.

The Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Leon Thomas III. Thomas is the voice of the Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band. Thomas is a long-time friend of Ellis’s and is a well-known master of ceremonies at a number of area events. The event will also feature the sounds of local singer Ora Alise Greely who will sing with the local band Main Event.

Doors will open at 7 PM and general admission will be a $10 donation to the Friends of Friday Ellis Committee. There will be food trucks onsite from Bahr Food, Delta Roux & Que and Caster and Chicory.

“Forging new relationships and growing a new economy is the goal,” said Ellis.
