Friends mourn death of club owner, “Cap” after shooting

Two weeks ago Monroe club owner Robert “Cap” Sullivan was lively, friendly and looking forward to the future. This week his family is mourning his death.

Sullivan, owner of the Members Night Life Club, on Highway 15 died this week after suffering a gun shot wound two weeks ago at a local hotel.

Sullivan was reportedly shot at the Quality Inn off 165 on July 13th, an apparent robbery victim.

He died Sunday after spending a week in intensive care as a result of a gunshot wound.

As of Wednesday police had not arrested a suspect in the shooting.

“Cap” was known by family and friends as a friendly individual who would go out of his way to help a person in need. His jovial personality constantly brought smiles to faces of family and friends.

Family members report that they expected him to recover from the wound since he was removed from intensive care and placed in a room. He interacted with family and friends, and then without notice, he “slipped away.”

Monroe Police Department Reggie Brown says the suspect, once arrested, will face an upgraded charge of second-degree murder. If you have any information about this shooting, you can call MPD.
