Friends want the real “T” about WM Coach’s firing

As former West Monroe High School coach Cedric D. Goins Sr. faces serious criminal charges, those who know him best are expressing skepticism about the allegations against him.

Goins, 33, was arrested on February 24, 2025, and charged with Cruelty to Juveniles and Second-Degree Battery after authorities say he placed a student-athlete in a chokehold, causing the student to lose consciousness. The reported incident allegedly took place on February 5 inside Goins’s office.

Since his arrest, friends and supporters have questioned the narrative being presented. Many insist that Goins has always been a positive force in students’ lives—mentoring, guiding, and encouraging them.

“Supportive, friendly, role model.” These are the words those close to Goins use to describe him, making it hard for them to accept the accusation that he violently attacked a student.
