A popular radio personality is being mourned by thousands in the Monroe community after his death in a car crash last week.
Funeral services set for Donald Johnson of Shreveport, known locally as DJ Star. Johnson died in a car crash over the weekend. He was a DJ for 100.1 The Beat.
A candlelight vigil will be held at the Monroe Civic Center on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Star will lie in honor from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday at the John H. Wilson Center of the Zion Baptist Church. The family hour will follow from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The homegoing will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Morning Star Missionary B.C. in Shreveport, La.
He attended Grambling State University and was an integral part of the “100.1 the Beat” radio family.
Co-workers said he was a unifying presence, a joyous personality and a human being whose words and expressions will be missed.
