Funeral set for latest victim as murders continue, suspect arrested

Monroe’s pattern of nearly weekly murders and shootings continued last week with the murder of a 21-year-old man in the Burg Jones Lane community.

Graveside funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 14th at 12 noon at the Magnolia Cemetery on DeSiard Street for Jacoby Looney, 21, who was the victim in a shooting incident that occurred in the 1900 block of Joe G. Drive last week.

Police have arrested 15-year-old Isszvian Jawon Webb, the suspected shooter in the incident. The suspect, according to police, shot Looney in an incident that has presented various, and sometimes conflicting reports as to the motive. All reports, however, identify Webb as the shooter.

Police investigators say Webb was seen driving away in a stolen White Chevrolet 2500 Spray foam Professionals work truck bearing LA Tag C458172. The stolen vehicle was recovered, and Webb was arrested this week.

According to authorities, Webb is charged with Armed Robbery, Second Degree Murder, and Motor Vehicle Theft.

The graveside service will be held Saturday but funeral home visitation has been scheduled for November 13th from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the McFarland Funeral Chapel at 1901 Burg Jones Lane.
