Funeral set for local caregiver Knia Williams, 49

Knia Shalette Harper-Williams, a dedicated caregiver and beloved mother of six, passed away on October 16, 2024, at the age of 49. Williams served her community as a caregiver at Christus St. Joseph’s Assisted Living Nursing Home.

Born on September 14, 1974, in Monroe, Louisiana, to David Jones, Sr., and the late Valerie Harper, Williams was known for her devotion to family and her passion for bringing people together. She spent much of her time planning events that united her children, grandchildren, and extended family.

In June 1992, she married James Williams, Jr., beginning a union that would span more than three decades. Together, they raised six children: Janisha, James III, Janterrias, Jasmine, Jamie, and J’Markeyce.

Williams was an active member of the faith community, initially at True Vine Baptist Church under Pastor Greg Oliver, and later at Lifeline Fellowship under the leadership of David Otis, where she remained until her passing.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, James Williams, Jr.; her six children and their spouses; her father, David Jones Sr.; grandmother Katie Seaberry; and numerous siblings, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation services will be held Friday, November 1, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McFarland Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place Saturday, November 2, at 2 p.m. at Lifeline Church on Highway 165.
