Monroe, LA- Eighteen (18) community residents celebrated the accomplishment of completing the recently held 1st Time Homebuyer Workshop sponsored by Renewal Inc. and Origin Bank.
The 2-day training was held on Saturday, Oct. 14 and Oct. 21, 2017 at the Lighthouse Church, Bishop Alvin Walker is the pastor.
Speakers for the event included course trainers Sonya Jacobs and Ericka Kelly.
Additional guest speakers included loan officer Gina Qualls of Origin Bank, credit specialist Tavia Perry, and realtor Lakesha January. Past program graduate April Jacobs also provided a testimony of how the class has helped her prepare for homeownership.
Renewal offers this 8-hour homebuyer education class twice a year.
The course reviews the topics of how much you can afford, understanding the steps in the homebuying process, and credit tips.
The classes are conveniently offered on weekends free of charge.
All classes require advance registration. Certificates of completion (sometimes required for down payment assistance programs) are valid for 2 years.
