Governor Edwards asks Democrats to early vote prior to Trump rally

As the Secret Service makes preparation for the visit of President Donald Trump to Monroe, Governor John Bel Edwards is making his rounds in Monroe talking with voters and working to get out the early vote in Northeast Louisiana.

President Trump is coming to Monroe to promote the candidacy of Eddie Rispone who is trying to unseat the Governor. The President’s limosine, known as the “Beast,” is under guard at the Monroe Regional Airport. Secret Service agents are scanning the Civic Center and sharpshooters are in position. Traffic has been diverted and roads closed as security tightens ahead of the President visit.

However, Governor Edwards met Democratic supporters at stops around the Monroe area encouraging them to vote early.

Concerning the President, Governor Edwards said he understands politics. He said President Trump will probably trash him as ineffective and stroke his base. However, the Governor said after he wins re-election he will continue to meet with the President on issues relating to the growth of Louisiana.

At one of the governor’s Monroe stops about 200 supporters met the governor in South Monroe.
