Obituary

Henrietta Lawrence McClanahan fondly known as Fannie was the second-born child of the late Willis Lawrence Sr. and Willie Mae Moore Lawrence born August 22, 1933, in Winnsboro, Louisiana. On September 12th at 1:15 pm in Houston, Texas departed this life with her daughter Sharon at her bedside.

Henrietta attended Monroe Colored High School and graduated from Grambling State University. She later met Louis T McClanahan at a Grambling Football Game whom she married on August 1, 1960, and from that union three children were born Sharon Kay, Lawrence Terry, and Jean Nicole.
She was a retiree of the Monroe City School system after 30 plus years as a Home Economics/Social Studies teacher. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. She served faithfully in various capacities as a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Some of the duties involved being a Sunday school Superintendent, Senior Mission Teacher, and Sunday School Teacher for various years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae and Willis Lawrence, Sr., two brothers Willis Lawrence, Jr. and Lester Lawrence, and husband Louis Terry McClanahan.

She is survived by her daughters Sharon Smith, Jean Owens, step-daughter Wilma Fox (Wayne), adopted daughter Francis Cunningham, and son Lawrence McClanahan (Tamika). Sister in law Sharon Simmons and step-son Darry Green (Diane). Seven grandchildren: Margeau Smith-Mayers (Chervon), Darry Green Jr., Ericka McClanahan, Kimblery McClanahan, Demetria McClanahan, Monique McClanahan and Quandarrius McClanahan. Five great-grands: Skylar, Kairo, Amoriee, Alaina, August and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The viewing will be held at Richardson Funeral Home on September 27, 2024, from 1 p.m – 6 p.m.
The funeral will be held on September 28, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Mount Olivet Baptist Church (BRANNON HALL), 500 Swayze Street, Monroe, LA. 71201. Oliver W. Billups, Jr., Officiating.
