The President of the United States is the most powerful person in the world. Donald Trump has one year left and there are many people trying to take his seat. Yes! I will be excited when he leaves. Some of the people running for President are Bernie Sanders, Marianne Williamson, Cory Booker, and Kamala Harris. The only one I really know something about is Bernie Sanders because my mom and dad voted for him last time. I noticed that no kids ever run for President. If kids ran for President everything would be very different. A lot of these stupid laws would change if kids had the power.
A President must be born in the United States. You have to be a resident for 14 years. You also have to be 35 years old or older. If I could change one of these requirements it would be the age factor. I would change it from 35 years old to 25 years old. Many older people are closed-minded and young people tend to be more open-minded. Older people get stuck in their ways and never want to try anything new. Old people want things to stay the same. Younger people want to try new things. I think a President has to be old enough to make good decisions but young enough to embrace change.
If a kid could run for President they would have to be confident, smart, and able to make big decisions on the spot. I think Elijah Preccieley would be a great candidate for President. He is the 11-year-old kid who got a scholarship to Southern University. Either one of the Obama daughters could run for President because they lived in the white house and know most of the people in Washington who gets stuff done. Jaden Smith could run for President. He knows people all over the world and he supports clean energy.
If I was President I would lower the age that you can get a full-time job. There are a lot of people hiring and old people act like they don’t want to work. A kid could be making that money. Jobs they claim don’t pay enough may not be enough for grown people but it could be good money for a kid and kids would work harder anyway without complaining. I would also make tougher laws against racism. Police Brutality against young Black boys needs to be a national priority. Kids play enough military tactic video games to know how to come up with ways to protect our neighborhoods.
I would also lower the voting age. I think when you get a driver’s license you should also be able to vote. As kids, we learn to vote at school. We have to vote for our student body President. We also vote for Homecoming King and Queen. When kids vote we are making the best choice for our school. When people vote for President they are voting to make the best chose for our country. If Donald Trump could be President a kid cannot be worse than that.
