In Honor of the Life of Ilsie Roberts -Whaley

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Ilsie Roberts -Whaley entered this world on July 26, 1943, to the union of the late Mr. Leon Roberts and Mrs. Francis Hanspard-Roberts. She was the second of four children born into this union. Around the age of seven, she confessed her belief in God and joined the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of West Monroe, Louisiana. She received her education at Central High School in Calhoun, Louisiana which is part of the Ouachita Parish School System.

Ilsie united in marriage with James Alvin Whaley, giving birth and rearing two daughters. They traveled extensively due to James’s time in the Army. When his bout was over in the army, they returned and lived in Monroe, Louisiana on Berg Jones Lane.

Ilsie made a career working at Glenwood Medical Hospital in the Central Supply Section. There she worked approximately ten to twelve years.

Her love and memory will be treasured by her daughter Kathy Regina Helton (Alphonse) of Arlington, Texas; siblings: Pauline Williams and Lawrence Roberts of West Monroe, Louisiana, two grandchildren: Jamila Brewer of Novorre, Florida Jakia Whaley of West Monroe, Louisiana; four great-grandchildren; Tykierra Brown, Emiyra Hampton, Tahlya Tashell, K.J. Brewer, and a host of nieces, nephews other relative and friends.
