A Monroe attorney praised by the City of Monroe for judicial excellence in the spirit of the late James Sharp, as been forced to permanently resign from the practice of law by the Louisiana Supreme Court.
On March 23rd, the Louisiana Supreme Court mercifully allowed local attorney Steve Jefferson to resign from the practice of law after he pleaded guilty in the 4th District Court of co-mingling his client’s funds with his own.
Jefferson was recognized by the City of Monroe during its Martin Luther King Program in January as an example of an attorney who practiced in the spirit of the legendary civil rights attorney James Sharp, father of Judge Alvin Sharp and former Judge Carl Sharp.
