Managers of Jewelry stores face tremendous temptations. They have access to keys, cash, and the merchandise. Occasionally, the temptation to misappropriate the cash or the merchandise using the keys is overwhelming.
A local woman who managed the Kay Jewelry Store in the mall was apparently overwhelmed by temptation and allegedly took several pieces of jewelry from the store’s inventory and then sold them to local several local pawn shops.

Thursday, August 24th, the police acted on the results of an investigation of suspected thefts in the store and arrested the store’s manager on felony theft charges. She is accused of stealing $18,000 from the store.
According to an arrest affidavit for Katrina Garrett, 35, Westminster Avenue, she took many pieces of jewelry from the store without paying for them and pawned them at various pawn shops in the Monroe area.
Police say that during questioning that Garrett reportedly confessed to the crime.
She was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center on the felony theft charges Friday afternoon. Bond was set at $30,000.
Even though there is an arrest and a reported confession, suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
