Judge Hunter’s Supreme Court race lingers in balance

Judge Marcus Hunter, a candidate for the Louisiana Supreme Court District 2 seat, finds himself in a state of uncertainty as a legal challenge to his candidacy makes its way through the court system.

The dispute began last week when Elisa Knowles Collins filed a lawsuit seeking to disqualify two of the three candidates in the race, including Hunter, citing delinquent state income tax filings.

Although Judge Donald Johnson of the 19th Judicial District Court ruled against Collins on Tuesday, allowing all candidates to remain on the ballot, Collins has appealed the decision.
