Lampley found guilty of 2019 Heckard murder

After a week-long trial at the Ouachita Parish Courthouse, the jury has reached a unanimous verdict in the case of State of Louisiana v. Charles Ray Lampley. On Friday afternoon, Lampley was found guilty of second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of domestic abuse battery in connection with the October 2019 homicide of Alice Heckard.

The verdict came after less than three hours of deliberation.

The trial, which began on Monday, February 26, 2024, was overseen by the Honorable Frederick D. Jones.

Assistant District Attorneys Shirley Wilson Davis and BarbaraAnn Holladay Coldiron represented the state, while Lampley was defended by Attorney John Roa.
