Bre’Ann Washington was praised by the Monroe City School Board Tuesday night for being the all-Parish spelling bee champion.
Superintendent Brent Vidrine said Washington competed in past years and made it to the 50th round, but this year she became the all parish spelling champion.
“I’ve done it for like four years. You have to study,” said Washington.
Her winning word was “effervescent.”
She is now studying for the national competition.
Board President Bill Willson said, “You have a bright future, continue to aim high.”
Washington is a student at Robert E. Lee Jr. High.
