Lewis leads area relief effort to help Rolling Fork tornado victims

Volunteers from the Monroe area are among thousands from across the country who have pitched in to help the mostly black community of Rolling Fork, Mississippi in the aftermath a recent tornado.

Rolling Fork was devastated by an EF-4 tornado on March 24, 2023. The tornado ripped through the town, destroying homes, businesses, and public buildings. In the days and weeks since the tornado, relief has been flowing into Rolling Fork from all over the country.

Christopher Lewis, a West Monroe businessman, and volunteers from Ouachita Parish were among thousands who have helped.

The fear is that since Rolling Fork is a small community of mostly African-Americans, that help will dry up after the publicity shifts to other areas.
