How to reduce crime and expand business opportunity in South Monroe was the focus of two meetings this week as the South Side Economic Development District (SEDD) continues its push to develop masterplans to roll out what it calls the “Southside Dream.”
SEDD President Tony Little met with members of the DBE committee this week as the group discussed ways to expand business opportunities for Southside businesses.
Little said SEDD wants to train eligible businesses to qualify as state contractors and increase government procurements from minorities to ten percent.
Leading SEDD in that effort is a consulting company owned by Small Business expert Sonya Jacobs. Jacob’s company has been contracted to help achieve a 30% minority participation in contracts and procurements from local governments. She has also…
