Local leaders upset about violence, escapes at Swanson

The NAACP, and elected officials are concerned over the violence and escapes that continue to plague Swanson Correctional Center in Monroe.

In the last week, six juvenile inmates injured a guard and escaped for a while before being captured.

  Escapes and violence at the center is the cause of concern for officials at the center and by local leaders.

  NAACP president Ambrose Douzart said at a recent press conference the frequent troubles concern the public and require a sit down with state officials to sort out the problem.
