Starting next week Monroe City Schools will begin observing an optional “flex day” that has some scratching their heads wondering how it will be implemented.
The board voted unanimously to allow principals to schedule weekly flex days that will allow teachers to have a break from the stress caused by added responsibilities prompted by Covid-19 restrictions.
The city school’s “flex day” will still require students to log in for virtual instruction. Students who need in-person intervention will have to come to their school site. While teachers are providing remediation and virtual instruction, the schools will also be deep-cleaned at the same time. The stress relieving “flex day” will also allow time for teachers to plan activities for the remainder of the week.
