Man arrested on multiple protective order violations

A Richwood man was arrested Tuesday following an alleged domestic dispute at the Parkview Apartments complex.

Montrel Deon Burton, 27, of 5220 Highland Road, was taken into custody on April 1 after police responded to a complaint from a Parkview Apartments resident who reported that Burton had physically battered her cousin.

According to police reports, officers located Burton on Ben Franklin Drive, but he allegedly fled from authorities and ran into Parkview Apartments unit #85. After apprehending Burton, officers interviewed the alleged victim who stated that Burton had grabbed her by the throat and pushed her against a wall. The victim confirmed she never lost consciousness during the incident.

A search of state computer records revealed three active protective orders against Burton. Police charged him with a total of four protective order violations, which received no bond. Additional charges include two counts of trespassing, resisting arrest by flight, and resisting arrest, with bonds totaling $11,500.

Burton remains in custody at the Ouachita Parish Detention Center awaiting further legal proceedings.
