L. “Marie” Brown, a tireless Monroe community advocate known for championing the needs of the poor, has been offered a position as community liaison to the Monroe City Council, though she says her acceptance depends on salary negotiations and the role’s scope.
The position, set to begin November 4, 2024, would make Brown the primary point of contact for citizen complaints about city-related issues, working on behalf of all council members. According to Brown, 68, she would report directly to Council President Juanita Woods and be accountable to the full council.
