A fifteen-year-old police-related shooting in Monroe has once again sparked controversy in Monroe after Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo accused Free Press publisher Roosevelt Wright, Jr. of lying about his involvement in the case.
The comments on social media has prompted comparisons to the George Floyd police murder in Minneapolis and the police murder of William Henderson in Monroe in 2004.
For 15 years, the Free Press has been running a video on its site keeping the memory of the police murder of Henderson in the public mind.
